Hello, I have a little question.
I know that if I upload a mp3 of a corprighted band like Coldplay I will be banned, but if I do a cover with my band of a song of them this still being against the rules?

No problem with covers. In fact when you upload your recording there is a choice of Original or Cover. If you wrote the song, select original. If you are covering the song, select cover.

The important question is: Who is doing the performance? If anyone other than you or you & your band is on the recording, that's where we can run into problems.

what if you use a full song as a backing track, like overdub a pop song with electric guitar?

Nope. That's a warning or ban.
Play-alongs to copyright material are not permitted.

Backing tracks that were intended as backing tracks are different.
The tracks were created with the expectation they will be used in this way.
