Marshall MA100H, 100w all valve head

A fairly new marshall and was wondering if anyone knew if they are any good? I've not heard a lot about them. They are also quite cheap compared to other marhshall valve heads

I've heard these are DSL Marshalls built into left over MG headshells.
I would say these probably sound close to the JCM 2000's we already know.

Oh come on. I owned a 900. they're not bad if you set em up and use them right. Joe Bonamassa used one for a while. so did Slash

really? are you sure about that?

900's, though, are really good amps. They are very versatile and can sound really good if you know how to EQ an amp.

to be on topic though, i didn't know they were released yet. (the MA's)

yeah I loved my 900 for the most part. it's just a matter of actually getting some low end out of it.

I am almost positive that slash used them for awhile

They are a totally new design that are built in Vietnam.

Personally, for the price I'd rather pickup a used DSL.

Yes that's right. I got the MA mixed up with the DSL in MG housing that Sweetwater was selling for a limited run a few months back.

Some inforamtion I'll quote from a thread a while back:

Quote by JesusCrisp
I heard they can't handle metal on their own from people who actually played them.

They are more for the blues/rock/punk and hard rock players.

Of course you can boost it.

But you'd be probably better of with something more high-gain.
#14
Sound kinda like a 900 to me, although a 900 can pull off metal alright on it's own. Certainly a boost helps a lot.

whats the "900" your going on about?

Im aiming for a new amp and MA100H took my attention, is it or is it not any good?
My guitar is and ESP LTD M-100fm, Ive played guitar for 3½ years, I play basically metal (metallica, megadeth) and some certain songs off genre like EJ's Cliffs of Dover
I do not gig atm but I might in the future, is this good for gigging with eg. a 4x12 to join?
Also is it good for playing at home, with or without any extra cabs?

The MA series is brand new. I think it is too soon to tell if they are any good. I hope they are. We need more reasonably priced good tube amps out there.

ER, I think you're thinking of the Jubilee, mate. Both probably have used them as rentals/backup once or twice.

Bonamassa uses DSLs as his backup now though.

Anyway, the MA is alright but still a bit overpriced for what it is. Definitely well worth trying out but you could find better (both in tone and quality) for the price.

Jaacko, what kind of sounds are you going for?

i think i played one in a guitar store and it sounded like 30 dollar kid's amp.
it really sucked...

^That edit buttons there for a reason bud.

However I agree. I played one this summer and it was absolute garbage. No balls, no character, no gain on tap. I almost preferred the MG TBH.

I played an MA50C. Sounded really tinny and harsh, didn't like it.
