I need a new guitar. I play stuff like Sylosis, Malefice, Behemoth and Trigger the Bloodshed. Lots of trem picking, lots of galloping. I want to be able to do alternate tunings, so no trems. I'm selling my old RG370DX for £200 (should I sell it for more?), and my parents can match whatever I put down for it.

I was looking at this, what do you guys think? Any other suggestions in the £350-£450 range?

What's the tone like on that Ibanez? And can you get one with an angled headstock? I just like that kind of look.

Try a Schecter Omen-7.
I know when I was looking for a seven-string, I was looking for a guitar to play thrash metal with.
And I tryed out..
iBanez RG7321
Schecter Hellraiser 7
Schecter Omen 7

I went with the Hellraiser because of the EMG's and because I had $1000 to spend, but the Schecter Omen sounds almost just as great, and it plays great too. Plus it's in your price range. And if you find the cash, you could switch out the pickups.
Not that the pickups are bad or anything. Because they're not.

Here's a link. Check it out for yourself.

The iBanez RG7321 has the WORST bridge pickup for a seven string. I also bought that after having my Schecter for a month or two just to have another seven string, and I regret it.
I switched out the pickups, and it still doesn't sound nearly as good as the Omen or Hellraiser.

Just cos this will mainly be a recording guitar, tone is pretty important.

Dude if you want a 7 string here you go: http://www.rondomusic.com/7string.html

Dont buy the 7321 it isnt that good.

They're all either over-budget or have trems.

What about this?

I'd look for a used Ibaenz 7621 or 7421. They are hard tail, have good pickups, and are much better quality than the 7321. I think they stopped manufacturing them in 1999 but I may be mistaken. You can't buy them new anymore but if you find one used you will not be disappointed.

For 7's, used is definately the way to go. I second the 7621/7421 vote, you could even pick one up with already upgraded pickups for under 500 pounds.

The Steph Carpenter sig is also a good choice provided your fine with the pickup arrangement. If you raise your budget a bit you could probably pick up a used SC-607b, the model up from the one you posted.

Id look for a used ESP MH207/307 too, theyre supposed to be pretty nice.

From the Legion.

I definitely second the RG7621 vote, wonderful guitars.

I had a Damien 7 for my first 7, with a PUP change, that guitar would be amazing, the HZs leave a little desired, but I used mine for like 3 years and it worked.

I would go for an RG7621 with upgraded pups, and then if you can't find that, grab a Damien. Used for both would be my call.
