Hey everyone,

Recently, I've been weighing up my options for buying a new acoustic, and as I do a lot of local gigs, it pretty much needs to have electronics.

Thing is, I'd like a decent sounding, solid wood acoustic guitar to write songs with, and take to unplugged jams, so I've been thinking how i can get best of both worlds.

I know I'm not the first person to do this, but I cant seem to find any information about this subject. The idea I have, is to buy a really decent acoustic guitar and fit it with a clip on soundhole pickup.

Is this all I will need?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Yeah, that's probably the option I'd choose. Have a look into Fishman, they seem to do some decent electronics, and Dean Marklay do some clip on soundhole pickups, but I can't say how they sound.

The other option is to spend a bit more, and get one with fitted electronics, and maybe a piezo pickup. Thet sound better, a touch more natural I'd wager, but will set you back plenty more than a decent acoustic plus a pickup for it.

Edit, and completely off topic: Woo! Grimsby! I used to live near there...
