Hey there,
A load of you guys have probably heard of GFS products, they sell pick-ups, leads, pedals, guitars, guitar kits, mod kits, accessories, etc. If you're not familiar with them, here's the website: http://store.guitarfetish.com/index.html

They make a load of pick-ups, including regular humbucks, P90 style, Tele pups, single coils, "Lipstick" pick-ups, and bass pick-ups.

The new thing about their site, is the addition of Pedals, they sell a few OD/Distortions, a Chorus pedal, Delay pedal, and a tuner.

"Greenie Classic Distortion" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8jnk0LVGc8&feature=player_embedded (Found by Dan_5893) (Invalid img)

"Brownie Classic Distortion" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3UJgHgNeEA&feature=player_embedded (Also found by Dan_5893) (Invalid img)

"Blues drive Classic Overdrive" - (Invalid img)

"Black Hammer Distortion" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_3NCAuj69k&feature=player_embedded# (Dan_5893 found this website, that has a lot of demos from someone sounding just like Jack Black...) (Invalid img)

"Fat Tube Classic (Vacuum Tube Driven)" - (Invalid img)

"Pro Chorus Classic" - (Invalid img)

"Pro Delay Classic" - (Invalid img) Here is a demo done by hendrixftw, not the best sound in the word, but still gives a good impression on the pedal. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frSfvWEeZrI) Now, there are also clips on my profile!

"Sweet Sparke Compressor" - (Invalid img)

The tuner - (Invalid img) Here is ChuggymcBr00talz's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC1tVBXxQsA

GFS Classic Alnico Pro Pick ups, click on "New Song" - http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/chea_man/

Reviews from "JoePerry4life":
" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6zL3tM7K8I GFS Alnio Strat pickups, very nice sounding, nice and warm.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jwat8Ej7iI GFS Lil Killer 15k, bridge. Lots of output, best to use 500k pots for a clearer sound.

http://store.guitarfetish.com/gostchlotusi.html I have these on my douglas. Stays in tune great, but I've noticed I break alot of strings on this guitar at the tuner because of the locking part."

vodoochile has a video of the Fat-Pats, check his profile, here: http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/vodoochile/ (Click on "In The Deep.")

GFS Vintage Alnico II, review from ckim715 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZNWbhmCUog

If any of you have clips, I would really like them, so we can build up a little vocabulary of clips and demo's.

Anyway, this thread is all about GFS, so please, post your pictures, tell your stories, ask questions!
Wait.

Whats the difference between this and my gibson? obviously better build, finish, and that gibson logo, but this looks like it'd be really fun, and I could make it into a damn sweet guitar for $500-650

Edit: I might be buying this, thanks for site TS, is the company safe/reliable?
and how is the price on that Mahogany kit, pretty fair?

No flamed or quilted top. Although I guess it's theoretically possible to add.

It was kinda a rhetorical question :P, I'm trying to talk myself into doing one of these projects.

I actually got one of the modboards (the delay). I got to say it's pretty awesome. Not the best delay around but being able to change while playing allows for some amazing stuff. 0% regret. I might be getting a OD circuit from them and have an all around guitar.

I have a G-System and there is no comparison on the quality of the delay but changing them live and while playing dude, it gives loads of tones. Quote me on this, it's amazing.

are GFS' pickups clones of other brands or their own sound? The pedals look like rebranded pedals, so i was wondering if the same was with the pickups.

i was looking for a cheaper way of finding a Duncan 59/custom combination but reading all those descriptions i have no idea if thats what GFS can do

from what i've read, the gfs pickups are their own sound, and most people either love them or hate them. in my opinion i dont think they're any good.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

A few months ago I ordered a pair of the VEH pickups for one of my alternate guitars. It was a starter guitar, so the pickups that were in it weren't very good at all. For the $90 I paid for two pickups, I would definitely say they were worth the amount they improved my tone. It wasn't an amazing upgrade, but it definitely made a difference.

i read on another forum, the tuner from GFS is +/- 1 Cent accurate vs the +/- 2 or 3 cent on other pedals. i want one of those in the future.

thats a quote about the +/-1 comparison to the TU-2

Indeed.

I hadn't checked out GFS' pedal selection yet. I'm thinking I'll have to try one or two of these things when the funds are there.

After listening to all their demos the only pedals I'm even mildly interested in are the tuner and the Fat Tube Classic distortion. Their TS pedal too maybe, I did like the sound in the demo.

Hmm, reckon the tuner will work for half step down stuff? If so I'm gunna snatch one of them up soon as I can.

Nope, reallly. It was about £12 with the cheapest option. It's not too bad, I mean, it's shipping al the way from America. It's still good value IMO.

My question was overlooked I'll ask again.

Is that solid mahogany kit a fair price? $180 for a Les Paul style?

Sorry, I've got no idea, I don't know anything about their kits, see if someone else does.

It seems okay though, solid mahogany for $180? Seems good. It certainly looks good.

Seems too cheap to me. $180 won't even buy you a neck from Warmoth.

Tbh, the body should be fine. The neck might not be too good though... I'd buy it, and if the worst comes to the worst, try and get a replacement neck off of the Bay.

I'm really tempted by their "MODboards" - I would love to have Comp/Delay wired under my pick-guard.

I've got a poorly made off-brand Strat from China that I may turn into a project/test for these. I'll report back in here if it ends up working.
