I use my middle finger the most, and I switch to my index when the power chord goes lower. I go to my ring finger if the chord goes higher. But I always start a power chord with my middle finger. I used to use 2 fingers, my middle and ring finger, but it's pretty inconvenient when you have to switch chords, so I strengthened my fingers and now I can do one finger easily. The only one which I find very difficult is my pinky finger . What about you guys?

EDIT: Oh sorry I forgot I meant in Drop D or Drop C or any dropped tunings.

Maybe he means drop tunings, I was confused also.

But WTF To play like a 577xxx I'd use Index ring and pinky. You would do different?

How would you play a 5776xx then?

Yeah what I meant to say was in drop tuning. Most people use index, ring, and pinky for other power chords too.

you should've put up the multi-selection type of poll, TS.

on Standard tunings and power chords rooting off the 5th string, i'll use index/ring/pinky or just index/pinky if I'm just palm muting 2 strings of that power chord

for drop tunings, I'll be using mostly my index or my my middle 95% of the time. I'll use my ring occasionally.

you're not gonna want to take a dump in a gross, off-colored, vintage toilet. you want something that is white and pearly; something that shines. something that you can put your cheeks against and say, "f*** yeah"

Index, ring and little finger. Actually, even when I play in drop tunings, I still use my little and ring fingers to play the octaves on the G and B strings.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

All of them, depends on where I am on the fretboard.
