I use my OD pedal as a boost to get more gain on my dirty channel.
I have been using a Digitech Bad Monkey for a long time now (for my B-52at112).

However, i think this $15 pedal has run its course and i am looking at upgrading to something that will kick some serious ass.

What suggestions do you guys have for me? (besides searchbar)

i was kinda looking at this:

BTW: i play alot of metal.

you know you can make your own

Useless comment is useless.

TS, the Metal Muff is horrible as a boost. The Krank looks like your average TS clone. Are you using the pedal for more gain or do you want to tighten things up?

Well, im using it for more gain at the moment.

I don't really know what "tightening" means, but if possible i would like that as well (assuming its a good thing).

It takes away the flub in the low end. The Bad Monkey does it to some extent but not as much as something like a TS9 does. How much gain are you using on your amp? I generally don't like to add any gain other than the extra push from ODs.

Yeah my amp has tons of flubby low end, even though i took out the closed back panel.

tightening up the sound would be great!

The gain on my amp is currently at 3oClock and the gain on my bad monkey is at 12oClock

If you want to tighten up the sound and add a little bit of gain, I'd go for an Ibanez TS9 or Maxon OD9 if you want true bypass and a slightly more hi fidelity sound. Run it with the gain all the way down and the level all the way up with the tone knob set to taste. That'll really tighten things up. You should be getting plenty of gain from your amp already so you don't really need any extra gain from the pedal but with the extra output, you'll get a bit more.

the Maxon is kinda too expensive. 120 is kinda the max im willing to go.

i guess i will just get the TS9 then.

Il try out what you said with my Bad Monkey too though.

Thanks alot!

The Bad Monkey is a great boost for one's amp. I don't think you particularly need a different OD unless you want to actually use it for overdrive.

Anyway, your settings are supposed to look like this for boosting the amp with an OD pedal:

Level max
Low 5
High 5
Gain 0
