Hey guys,
I'm looking to switch out the pickups in my les paul. I play predominately clean tones with some overdrive here and there, along the lines of John Mayer, Matchbox 20, Wallflowers, U2, etc. and jazz/blues. I guess I'd ultimately like to get a bit more "stratier" tone out of it, while still being able to play thick and beefy tones, so I think I'd like to coil tap also.

I'm considering these:

edit: also contemplating some TV Jones pups:

any help is greatly appreciated!

I had one of these in a Dean Explorer I had-
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seymour-Duncan-SHPG1-Pearly-Gates-Pickup?sku=301100

It sounded better then the EMG 81 that was in it. (Crappy guitar+EMG=no good)

The Pearly Gate is going to be at the top of my list for my new build, ****ing badass sounding clean or distorted. Sounded like the gates of heaven. Even coming from that crappy guitar.

I would recommend at least looking at it. Super clean sound.

if your looking for a bit more strat like tones i would suggest P90s. they sound great in pauls.

EDIT: just looked at the pickups you linked too...i'm not so sure about them. personally i'd go for a more classic p90.

i really dig p-90's im just apprehensive to drill into my guitar, hence why those p-94's looked pretty cool

i would have to disagree with the last statement. i have a strat with a pearly gates pup and even with the amp clean there is a hint of breakup. Its good if your looking for a dirty clean sound but vs a P90 the p90 would be much cleaner.
