Just a bit of fun this one. These are all historical figures in music. Some are obvious, some not. Let's see how many of them you recognise. If you can't recognise any, then tick the final box.

I lol'd at the results so far.

Not knowing who these people are doesn't make you ignorant, it means you have a different taste in music. Not being able to swim all different ways (back-stroke, breast-stroke, etc) doesn't make you ignorant to swimming.

my logic is probably flawed, but for now i rest my case

I got them all as soon as the poll came up, unless you're a demon that can see in the future (which would be REALLY COOL) then we probably tie.

I listen to all apart from Stavinsky, as I'm just not a great fan of such music. I love blues and rock n roll, therefore am a huge and rather knowledgeable fan of the rest. If you are upset by people not knowing these people, head over to the blues and jazz forum where they are all well known.

Not at all, take note where I said that this was just a little bit of fun. I am really pleased that most of you know Lemon Jefferson and Patton

I recognise quite a few of them, but i think its kind of unfair to say that someone is musically ignorant just because they don't know much about Jazz or Classical, i mean i'm sure some of the more Jazz or Classical orientated (read: majority of) music lecturers at my uni wouldn't be able to name 5 death metal bands off the bat.
WHOMP

Think of that next time you are not allowed to laugh.

That was dumb, you just put up a bunch of delta blues players and a few others.
That being said I like your taste in delta blues players TS.
Unless you don't like them, and only know those people you listed in which case you can **** off.

charlie patton's the only one i didn't recognize by name.

edit: funny enough, i checked and i do have four patton songs on a three disc compilation of depression-era songs called people take warning.

but what the hell is stravinsky doing on this list?

I wouldn't say it's a good list to highlight musical ignorance. All it does is show people haven't heard of some delta bluesmen, a ragtime piano player, arguably the greatest chicago bluesman, a rather famous composer and the leader of a rather famous rock n roll band. I wouldn't say that really covers music as a whole.

Charley Patton was the first real showman, so they say. He started the Hendrix things of playing behind ones head, between the legs and on the floor. Some said he had a voice that could be heard from a mile away, still clear.
