Well, I am considering trading in all my guitar gear and going back to bass, seeing as I'm just more of a bassist at heart. Would it be possible to use my Bugera tube head, and use it to drive a bass cab, or would it fry it?

There's nothing wrong with that setup. As long as it's a bass cab. The tone won't be exactly what you'd want for a bass though.

Is there such a thing as a heavy riff with out chugging on the e string?

I like distorted bass. Ive run a bass through the guitar cab at low volumes, and the cleans sounded nice, you just have to EQ it right, but I wanted to run it at giggable volumes, and I wanted to make sure the amp itself wouldnt fry. I figured it wouldnt, I just wanted to be sure.

You can use a guitar head, but not a guitar cab. Basic rule of thumb.
