can anybody suggest me some? i want a really smooth lead tone without too much attack when riffing and i figure this would be perfect.

ideas?

I don't think i've ever used a compressor and been annoyed with the added noise, then you get a noise gate and then you're unhappy cause your notes don't sustain as long. But if you get a boost pedal and put it infront of your preamp distortion u'll get you compressed tone without added noise.

I found this out with my volume pedal (look below), and i think it's one of the best guitar investments i've ever done.
