Build an LPB-1. It's simple, and useful.

http://smallbox.zeonhost.com/projects/lpb1/LPB1.gif JUST WONDERING.......... WHAT DOES COMPONENT 2n5088 does ????? what if i would left it out ?

that's a transistor. without it the pedal won't work.

I suggest buying a kit from www.buildyourownclone.com they're great pedals and all have detailed instructions, ideal for a beginner. I've built 3 so far (I just finished my 3rd one a couple hours ago, I'm gonna start on another tomorrow)

and with your first kit you get a confidence booster and a signal tester free, so if you can build the confidence booster to, well, boost your confidence in building, and then build your pedal with more experience under your belt. I actually ended up putting my CB in a box, added a switch etc.

They aren't giving away the boost and signal tester with your first order anymore. At least it is pretty cheap, even if you get a switch and enclosure.

This is the diagram I use to build my LPBs. You can swap most of the components for anything close, and you can buy everything you need at radioshack or any other electronics place.

fyi the confidence booster kit IS an LBP1. if you want smt more 'impressive', build a simple dirtbox like a fuzzface. they're only like 7 onboard components and there are diagrams for every conceivable variation all over the internet (i dont get how dunlop can charge 100 bucks for smt so simple).

so i have another question on the diagram above : http://smallbox.zeonhost.com/projects/lpb1/LPB1.gif @ resistor if i would put another potentiometer instead of 830 k resistor ??? sorry for lots of questions, just looking for some new stuff

oh and couse its hard to find some parts (resistors) how could i "make" 830 k resistor(two smaller resistors in a row) ?? and would the pedal work, if i would use bigger compasitors??? (or stronger resistors=) thank you ALL FOR MY ENGLISH

It'll change the bias of the transistor.

edit: 1M resistor will work. bigger caps will have an effect on the tone. In this case, it will give you more bass if you use bigger capacitors.
