So I found a used Marshall AVT150H half stack for $425 (US). I am going to test it out tomorrow, but has anyone owned one of these? How is it? I know it fits my style (Hendrix, blues, classic rock, some alternative, Metallica, GnR). Should I go for it if its in good condition?

For that kind of stuff, you'd be better off saving a few hundred and picking up a used Peavey Classic 30. It will sound 100x better.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Does it have the AVT cab? If it has a nice cab (not like an MG or AVT), it might be worth it. Like a 1960 or something.
Gear:
-Gibson Les Paul Studio Cherry Sunburst w/ Alnico Pro II
-1960 Yamaha Orange Sticker Acoustic
-Marshall JCM2000 DSL 401
-Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
-Blackstar HT-5RH
