Hey, new member here, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. I looked around, and this seems right, but again, sorry if it is not!

I got my first guitar for Christmas, and I have no previous guitar experience. I'm really determined to learn to play, and I have tons of time to dedicate to practice.

My question is this: What should I focus on learning first? I was planning on just trying to memorize the basic chords and practice chord progressions until I got used to them, but should I be doing something else (like scales) first?

Thanks in advance

You are doing fine. Just learn

-Playing open chords cleanly
-Switching cleanly between open chord will keeping the strumming going in a steady tempo
-Then learn about strum patterns and you can start to play alot of songs.

After that just chose a song you like and learn it.
