Just got my quote back from RAN Guitars for my custom explorer, and its abit too expensive for me, 1980 euros which is just under 1800 GBP . I looked oline for past quotes from custom explorers but they also seemed to be in the 850-1100 euro range, but they were all from awhile ago, so i guess the company has alot of demand these days. Here's the quote form anyway

Dear Jake, the Explorer guitar in your specification will cost 1980 euros.

...So what's your question?

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

This. And that price is pretty damn ridiculous for a plain Explorer with some relatively easy inlays.

Given that it's a RAN and therefore custom I don't get how you can call the price damn ridiculous. Like you might be able to do that for a factory made guitar but once you go custom you have to spend cash despite how simple of a job it might be. Case in point I got a quote back for a ESP Mirage Neck Thru with a few changes (control layout, fretboard wood, and inlays) and the first quote came out to be at twice the cost of the original. Ridiculous pricing? Maybe but then again it's a custom shop and they pay a hell of a lot more attention to detail to it.

Some stock guitars cost just as much or more. Think Gibson, Caparison, PRS etc.

Hey bro I got bad news about you, the Caparison Angelus HGS in Pro Trans. Black is being discontinued and I'm not sure if they're doing them in a new colour so you might have to go second hand for that Capa of yours.

I didn't really have a question, i was just dissapointed with how much more RAN guitars cost these days, sorry.

EDIT: ANd yeah, I am a Hetfield fan, didn't realise it was a crime
I just love the explorer shape, and Gibson don't do the '84 explorer anymore, and I've checked Ebay for one. Plus,Iron cross inlays were an actual option on the site, so i though "why the hell not, that would like pretty cool" and if they're an option there obviously quite popular and must be regularly asked for.

I was looking into Ran guitars as well. I didnt because alot of people told me that the quality had gone down alot in the past year or two and prices had sky rocketed.

Thats a shame, but i suppose its better going to an actual custom company instead of going to Gibson or ESP and asking for a custom model, since they cost so much more.
