Hey guys, its time for me to upgrade my gear...my budgets not too good but I have a few things in mind. I love the clean tone of the vox night train so I think I'll be purchasing one of those, unless anyone has some good suggestions after this.

Anyway I need help finding a good, tidy distorted tone. What I mean basically is, I've always had a good tone when I was into more basic power-chord type metal, but now I play more along the lines of more moderate opeth, and heavier porcupine tree. But, for the life of me, I can't find settings that let the chords really stand out without sludging together...any suggestions?

Currently I have a Crate Gt120 Combo, Schecter C-1 Classic (SD Jazz in neck, SD JB in bridge if that helps) and a boss metal zone, which is likely the source of the problem...

Try a Metal muff. Or get an Eq to dial in your tone without making it muddy.
Or get both and youll have no more problems
