I am looking to replace the EMG's in my kh602. The EMG's are great, but just aren't doing it for me anymore.

The body is maple on my kh602 if that helps any, also all my gear is listed in my sig.

I was looking at a either a pearly gates bridge/jazz neck or JB bridge/Jazz neck.

My main question is, will the pearly gates be worth the extra money?

I play anything from thrash, to blues and classic rock...so i want the combo to be somewhat versatile.

Any help is appreciated.

Personal preference and matching of the pickup voicings to the bright sound of the maple.

What is your amp.

The Pearly gates isn't a metal pickup and the JB will make your alder too shrill for the chugga chugga.

Sorry, meant to type maple. Not feeling 100% this week.

Otherwise, if you want Seymour Duncan, what about the Custom Custom (SH11) in the neck and a Custom (TB5) in your bridge.

if you sell the 2 Marshall MGs, you can have more money to put towards boutique pickups like WCR.

You'll need to change your pots to 500K pots and if you like, change your output jack to a mono jack. Otherwise there will be no problems.

Its no problem...i figured you meant maple lol.

Im actually liking the dimarzio idea, and i think im gonna go that route.

Is the changing of the pots and jack completly necessary?

also, do you know of any place that has lime green guitar knobs, since you seem very knowledgeable, and i couldnt find them on all parts?

Pots... yes.
Jack... optional... but since you're already doing soldering work... why not?

You can also consider the DiMarzio Air Classic for the neck pickup too.

Financial venture? It shouldn't be, the pots and jacks aren't exactly pricy products unless you're talking about things like Switchcraft or Neutrik jacks or CTS pots.

You're welcome.

500KΩ audio taper mini-pot for the volume (http://www.allparts.com/500K-Mini-Pot-p/ep-0186-000.htm)
500KΩ linear taper mini-pot for the tone (http://www.allparts.com/500K-Linear-Mini-Pot-p/ep-0228-000.htm)
0.0331µF capacitor for your tone pot
0.001µF capacitor for the direct treble bleed for your volume pot

At least this is what I believe you would need, since your KH is essentially of the same construction as my Ibanez RG.

where can i get the capacitors?

sorry about the excessive questions...im clueless about this stuff x]

Most electronic shops should have them... somewhere like Radio Shack would be a good start.

Make sure you get 0.0331µF (0.0311 µF) for your tone and 0.001µF for your volume's treble bleed.

µF = microfarad

Get something too low like a milifarad will probably turn your sound to mush and mud, whereas too high like picofarad will probably have no effect on your sound at all.

makes sense...alright, with everything im gonna due to this guitar...itll be about 200 bucks...not bad actually.

i wentto a local guitar shop to see if they could order the pickups for me...he quoted me 109 each...i lol'd.

anyways...i heard that the paf pro can lack in sustain and whatnot...in your opinion, is that true?

what is "whatnot"? You need to give me the characteristics you want evaluated.

Sustain comes from your guitar and its construction, not so much the pickup.

If you are in the States... the 2 pickups should not cost more than 120 or so in total.

well my time is running out on the library computer...but i meant, that they tend to sound "thin"...but i suppose its nothing to worry about.
