In the movie "Across the Universe" there is a scene where a guy is playing an old Telecaster in a bar during the song Come Together. I like the way his guitar sounds and I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to how such a tone could be achieved? Here is a link to the clip from the movie. The bit I am interested starts at 2:50. Thanks!
Sounds like a wah plus an overdriven tube amp to me.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
