Dylan liked Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower" so much that he started playing it like Hendrix's live instead of his own.

(Hopes people remember this)

I do recall someone saying something about a guy named Dylan playing a black mans version of his song "All Along the Watchtower." Can't remember the black mans name though.. They say its the best cover of any song ever.

This soooo much.

Change - Between The Buried And Me

Also, I recall a similar thread with All Along The Watchtower madness going on.

On topic, I love Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallelujah, as well as the one Regina Spektor did. Also, the APC version of Imagine is quite good, the Ruder than You version of Paranoid is awesome, and anything Reel Big Fish covers is pretty much gold.
Begin again in the night, let's sway again tonight.

2113 by Rush, covered by Coheed
And Alter Bridge's live cover of kashmir, even though they STILL didnt realise that songs full potential... I am waiting for someone to make that song truly amazing...
...In my opinion.

Three of a Perfect Pair - Between the Buried and Me, originally by King Crimson
Turn the Page - Metallica, originally by Bob Seger
Higher Ground - RHCP, originally by Stevie Wonder
Sound of Silence - Nevermore, originally by Simon and Garfunkel
Come on Eileen - Save Ferris, originally by Dexys Midnight Runners

And Mattias IA Eklundh does some pretty nifty covers of Detroit Rock City by Kiss, and Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple

I'm pretty sure Rush's song is 2112, and Coheed's 2113 isn't a cover of it. I could be wrong though.

Forgot all about that one.

Great cover.

And Between the Buried and Me's cover of "The Day I Tried to Live" by Soundgarden is pretty damn good.

I'm going to have to say my favorite cover of a Bob Dylan song is not, actually, NOT All Along The Watchtower. My favorite cover of one of his songs is actually Death Is Not The End by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Not only did Dylan like it, but he liked it so much he offered (and proceeded) to be part of the ensemble of singers that included Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Kylie Minogue.

Also, The Mercy Seat, originally by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, covered by Johnny Cash.

I love metal but death metal's just a bit too much for me. The most I can get into is serious-illness metal.
