I've had difficulty finishing songs almost since I started doing so. I always tend to open up GP5 and put down an awesome riff I had just come up with. There are three possible outcomes:

- I write up to a certain point and then have no clue what else to add (80% of the time)
- I never use that riff again (18% of the time)
- I'm lucky and I finish my song (2% of the time)

Now I've really got no idea what to do. How do I get rid of writer's block? I just want to get rid of it so that I can finish all those unfinished songs.

PS: I know basic music theory (still studying it), should I learn more?

I think this belongs in the Songwriting & Lyrics Techniques sub-forum; anyways, I know it doesn't go here.
