i need to know what to get or what to upgrade on

right now i have my sisters old laptop

Dell Latitude D600

what i plan on getting for recording equiptment is...

- Lexicon Lambda USB Audio Interface
- a Mixing Board( dont know and not sure what kind, something good and cheap)
- and Yamaha DTXplorer Electronic Drumset (if not i'll stick with my Alesis SR18 drum machine)

what should i do?

the lambda has preamps on the 2 mic channels - why do you need a mixing desk?

You'll need a DAW (digital audio workstation) - you can't really go wrong with reaper, you can get fairly professional results & it's free.

What exactly do you plan on recording (instruments)?

yes
guitar, drums, and bass
idk why i needed a mixing desk
my friend who records other local bands has a big ass mixing board so i figured i should grab one
but he mics his drumset and i guess thats why he has the mixing board
i'll be using my drum machine
so i guess nay to the mixing board?

I have a mixing desk and basically use each channel as a preamp (with a direct out for each channel) because my firewire interface has 2 inputs with preamps and 6 without. If you're only going to be recording guitar & bass (I assume one at a time) and using electronic drums/a drum machine, you won't really need one - you could save yourself some money & maybe get some headphones or monitors.
