When recording midi with a vsti, is it possible to have only one vsti open and record multiple tracks with different presets from the vsti? Or must i open the vsti separately on each individual track with the different presets loaded according to the sound i wish to achieve for that track?
Sorry if this was confusing; i am new to the whole vsti thing.
Thanks in advance,
chad

EDIT: I'm using reaper to record. And right now i'm using the vsti synth1

generally, you need multiple instances, there are a few VSTis that will spit out different audio to different channels, but that's not a common feature, and even then it usually doesn't work in the way you are talking about.
