I am an avid writer of poetry and am trying compile my best work (whatever that is) into a book. I'm not sure why people write poetry, but I write poetry because it's a completely impersonal yet deeply personal way of getting one's thoughts out. That may sound contradictory, but hear me out! Everybody has the need to leave their mark or the need to have an outlet for their emotions. This can be a painting, a song, going to the gym-- anything! For me, it is poetry. If something tickles my fancy or beats the crap out of it, I go to words. I can put it in rhyme or use sly wordplay, or make it clear as day. I can adumbrate or be as blunt as I desire... I've always been a word lover/pun lover, etc. Like a song, a poem can evoke something within you simultaneously accompanied by a smile for the design of it. That's the dream.

I enjoy writing some poetry every now and then. I'm not great at it, but it's fun. My motivation is whatever inspires me. Sometimes a situation or a feeling or just a random object laying around can be really beautiful. Check out my blog for a read.

Anything from a current relationship to the way ice cream melts can inspire someone.
Oh f*ck it,
I'm gonna have a party.
I had the blankest year,
I watched life turn into a TV show.
It was totally weird.

FFS people who cares if there are a few mistakes or typos?

I guess everyone who writes poetry has a different reason to do so. I write it when I'm struck with inspiration from the world around me, that can be hard to express but very satisfying when you can with words.

her supple lips parted
at the behest of moses
with the hue and scent
of the deadest roses
oh fatalistic paradigm!
why hast thou parted me
from mine sweetest adorations
her tulips the color of carnations
as i nestle my head soon to sleep 'tween thine thighs
with the luscious pink slowly fading from mine eyes

my love, if it pleases thee
i shall cower and finger
thy organ that lingers
barbarically 'twixt thine knees.
oh knight in violet armor!
how he jousts in a fury
so tender i worry.
this undoubtedly violent charmer;
with his helmet he doth guide the way
to the land of milk and honey.
so moist and warm and gay,
caress him i will if i may
hoping will it be the key
to love lasting ever and a day
