I would go with neither of them, i would particularly stay away from that RG if you are looking at Ibanez, i love Ibanez to bits but that RG is terrible.

It seems to me like you are a metal player so may i add another guitar to your list.

Mahogany bodied, 24 fret, Ibanez RG for under $300, be hard to beat IMO.

Srry dude but that guitar has no tremolo, but thanks for the suggestion its great for body and all but no tremolo

go to a music/guitar shop and try them out, find one that you like the sound and/or look of that you can afford and buy it. If you can get a dual humbucker, they have the fullest sound.

The Dean you linked doesnt have a tremolo either and neither does the jackson?

You are going to have a hard time finding a good souding, good playing guitar with a stable trem for under $300, personally i would stay away from tremolo equipped guitars in that price range.

Hey though this guitar isnt on your list it is very awesome. comes with Floyd rose and EMG HZ pickups. originally a$630 guitar on sale this week for $269.97 no tax and free shipping. ams is a great place to shop. click here to go to the link. very sweet guitar

I agree a good guitar for the price, but if its his first guitar the floyd rose will make him want to eat his eyeballs.

dont get any of them, they all suck. if you already have a functioning guitar you should save your money to get a decent guitar.

This post is dead on. So was the later part about no trem in this price range.

Have you ever owned a schecter if you have you wouldn't be saying that.

i have played several schecters in different price ranges and i agree, they are great. but im just saying its better to save up for a bit more expensive guitar because if he just buys a guitar because he feels like buying something he will regret it later.

Hey I'm a teen and my parents gave me a budget

So am I but I'm saving up for an ESP Horizon and a new amp. Trust me if you go from one cheap guitar to the next all it's going to do is make you lose interest, I'd say raise your budget to at LEAST $500 (wait till your birthday or something and ask for money) or better yet, do what i did and get a job XD. With a $500 budget you can look into some 400 series LTDs.

Example:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-H401FM-Duncan-Pickups-Electric-Guitar?sku=423296

At least with a nice guitar you'll wanna play it. As much as i love my $350 Epi SG it does have it's problems cosmetically and playability-wise. I wouldn't wanna go from what I have now to something of equal vaule. I would wanna step it up. Hell if you're serious about playing guitar get yourself something taht you know you'd use and love for the rest of your life.
