This might be a dumb question but I’m getting a lot of bad sounds (finger squeal) when I’m playing power cords with distortion. I have a knockoff Strat and Vypyr 15W amp. On the clean channels everything sounds great but with distortion it’s bad. I have changed string, used FastFret and try to improve my technique. Any slight finger sliding creates loud squeals with distortion. Do I need to work on my technique more or is it coming from the guitar electronics?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

You'll always get some squeal when sliding your fingers across the strings of a guitar running through a distorted amp. It's something you'll get used to, or learn to pick your hand up and mute with the palm of your right hand.
