My friend is looking for a new guitar because the one he has now is his old starter guitar. An Ibanez IJX20, I think...

He says the one is that he wants is the RGA121, which I can't find on the Ibanez website to read about...

I was hoping there was someone out there that knew more about Ibanez guitars than we do, that could help him on his decision.

Questions:
Is the RGA121 a good guitar?
Is it overpriced? Cheap?
Does it have good quality?
Is there another Ibanez guitar out there that is cheaper but has better quality, or is like the RGA121?

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear a few opinions soon.

Ok,
The RGA121 is going to run you 700-900 USD...

And its a pretty good guitar, but it is overpriced in my opinion.

If you are in that league moneywise, I'd suggest a Schecter Hellraiser, or a Schecter Blackjack.

And if you're feeling in the mood to try something new,
I'd suggest something like this

and then slapping a set of Dragonfire Actives into them,
http://www.guitarpartsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_68&products_id=525

or a set of Dragonfire Blades
http://www.guitarpartsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_66&products_id=430

And if you go with the actives,
make sure he prewires it for you,
so all you basically do is slap it into your guitar.

You kinda just gave me your guitar dude...
I was kind of hoping with you calling yourself an "Ibanez player" you'd have a little more than just that to say.

definitely a big fan of the RGA121. i had one in the violin finish. it's an extremely pretty guitar, but definitely a workhorse too! the best fixed bridge guitar ibanez has made, in my opinion. i think it had a 5 way switch, so plenty of sounds. comfortable. original wizard neck, nice carved top, and i love the bridge on it. totally worth the money i think, and i wish i had mine back but what can you do, you know? i'd try looking for a nice used one on ebay. they're worth the money.

I tried an RGA121 for the first time last week. It was good, just like any Prestige Ibanez will be - but it wasn't for me. My RGs need to have Gotoh style bridges and a flat top. If someone offered me a brand new RGA121 for my RG2EX1 I'd turn them down.

I guess the consumer advice here is: Let him try the RGA121, but make sure he tries some other, less expensive stuff too.
