I want to have a low watt tube amp to nail those vintage marshall plexi tones without making my ears bleed and without making my purse bleed . Im willing to go used too... i dont know if there are any old vintage low watt plexi-like amps out there...
Thanks..

Valve Power 18w or any LiteIIB based clone amps are quite cheap and sound pretty good. You could also check out Metroamps or Corford amps but they are quite hefty in the price tag.

I got both the Blackheart Little Giant 5w and the Handsome Devil 15w. Couldn't recommend either highly enough. Can be a little noisy when cranked but that's what you get with straight up cranked class A tube madness.

EDIT: The valvepower is great too from what I've heard. Prices on Blackhearts on hhard to overlook though. €150 FOR THE 5w head? That's a bargain.
Gear:

Is what some junkies refer to heroin as. For me it's just loads of wires and good sturdy housing, but just as addictive.

Sure but both those amps don't sound like a Plexi either.

The 5w cranked is pretty close, imho. The 15w definitely sounds more like an 80's master vol marshall, true.

i'm not sure how close the valvepower or other 18 watters will sound to a plexi (don't think i've tried a plexi, certainly not cranked up), but they sound marshally to my ears, but perhaps a little warmer than the guitar clips i've heard of plexis.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
