But its only the G string that gets knocked out of tune. These are fresh strings and they didn't happen to me yesterday.

you can't dive bomb on a crappy strat copy and expect it to stay in tune.

to get moderate use out of it, you'll need to balance the bridge and lube contact points.

How fresh are the strings? If they're brand new (since yesterday), they're just stretching. Problem should resolve itself.

Augh I should update my sig. Its an RG1570.

Check the locking nut. If that's fine, then make sure the strings are fully stretched out.

This isn't a stretching problem as yesterday I could do divebombs and flutters and whatnot and the bar would only go slightly out of tune, but today I do one and the G string goes off by about 2 semitones and the rest of the strings are fine (well the G string going off moved the bridge so all the strings are off but y'know what I mean).

Then something is severely wrong with the set up of your guitar. There's absolutely no reason for a guitar with a double-locking Edge Pro bridge to go out of tune unless you've severely buggered up the set up, tension balance and so on.

Sounds like you're not stretching the strings properly before putting them on, you're not restringing the guitar correctly, or the spring tension at the back of the guitar isn't set correctly to match the string tension. Check over your guitar's basic set up and condition again, look for where the string might be slipping or binding (getting stuck), check to make sure the bridge itself is returning to the same (and correct) point each time.

No, that is quite a problem, as a double locking vibrato bridge shouldn't go out of tune at all once it is set up correctly. This reinforces my theory that you've not set up or restrung the guitar properly.

well, did you string it up correctly?

perhaps if this is a new thing, you've got a bad string.

not an all the time thing, but it can happen.

g strings are the hardest to keep in tune.

This is a new thing, but yesterday this did not happen at all.

Edit: Alright I think I did something wrong. I checked the back of the cavity and it seems like 3 of the strings (E A and D) are in some kind of red thing and G B and A aren't. Could that be why?

Edit 2: Ok, so the G string didn't go off now, but now all the strings went sharp after a dive bomb. What the hell?

Bump. It seems my guitar is developing worse and worse tuning stability every time I even look at it. The locking nut holds all the strings down except the A string. The A string just slides right through. What the hell?

im sorry but it's the way you're setting it up.
the nut isnt locking and the bridge might not be balanced.

i suggest you go to the Floyd thread at the top of the page and look over the first few posts.

It seems like every 5 minutes a different problem occurs. Now the nut's locking fine, and the bridge has always been balanced. I think its how I'm restring it. On an Edge Pro, should I put the strings so that the ball end touches the string retainers? Because from the looks of it half my strings, the ball ends are hooked on this red thing on the back of my tremolo cavity.

defect? or is the screw there stripped and not holding it down all the way? if the locking nut is screwed up that very well could explain your tuning problem
