This is the new thread, and will be the only thread for discussion aside from the release threads. If you want to submit a song, or get feedback, or discuss new ideas, this is te place.

Currently we're looking at another General Album, as well as some genre albums. The genres we've got some tracks for (but not enough!) would be ambient, trance, DnB, and Dubstep.

ABOUT SUBMISSIONS

If you want to submit your track to UG Electronic for consideration for the next Electronic Album, please read this!

If you are looking for feedback on a track that is not yet finished, please simply upload it to your UG profile and ask in this thread for crits. Click the Drop Box link below and upload your track to our SoundCloud Group there*. Please include:

The track title
Your pseudonym
if you want one
Your UG name so we can get in touch with you
Any genre album this track might apply for (ie Ambient, Trance, DnB) Any other relevant information you see fit to share

The Drop Box has places for you to type all of this, so don't worry about putting them all in the file name or anything. If you're in doubt as to where to put something, just put it in the General Comments section. The higher the quality you submit to us the better, as if your track passes as-is, we'll simply download it from there.

*It is probably in your best interest to go ahead and activate the SoundCloud account it creates for this purpose, or to sign up before you submit. That way, you can go to the SoundCloud Group and see if your track has been reviewed yet.
If your track is:
Visible to the world through the group - It's passed.
Not yet visible because it needs to be moderated - It hasn't been reviewed by our Review Panel yet, or we'd like you to make some changes based on our feedback.
Not there at all - It didn't pass.

No one will see your track until the reviewing process is complete, save the Review Panel. You will be able to see it in the SoundCloud Group because you submitted it, but no one else (except our reviewers) can. Feel free to ask how your track is being reviewed by PMing captaincrunk or SteveHouse, but please give us some time to review it first.

If you have any more questions ask in this thread.

Definitely working on some breakcore that'll be coming the label's way soon, along with some ambient techno and other things.

Here's a work in progress, feel free to download if you enjoy it. Scope the Macbeth references as well.

That is a pretty vague description.

What is this?

Before, we had discussions in the Disc Two thread, or the first thread, and instead of creating a new thread to make each album in, this is gonna be the only one.

some people on UG produce electronic music and they like to make "albums" (compilations of their work) to share with each other and anyone else who would like to listen to them. this thread will be used to discuss their tracks, albums, collaborations, etc.

Have you given thought to trying your hand? Perhaps under a pseudonym?

i have actually. i know a few producers here and i'm going to get some production lessons from one of them starting this month, to learn the basics and get some tips. dj thera from holland (one of my favourite hardstyle producers) is coming to australia in february and he's going to give me a lesson and some of his favourite vst/vstis too that should get me off to a decent start haha. if i ever make anything good i'll be sure to let you know

I've got a few Dnb and dubstep tracks in the pipeline, look forward to the genre specific ones.

Well hell, that's exciting for you. Be sure to share, wink wink nudge nudge.

Coming up from me:
Asylum: a tech trancer that's giving me fits.
Do it Live: my first J-Tek effort, sampling the one and only Bill O'Reilly, ranting as only he can about not understanding the teleprompter.

Double post and I'm sorry, but this is totally irrelevant to my above post.

I think it would be a really cool idea for us to do remixes of each other's stuff on the next album. Here's how I envision it working.

1. Crunk edits OP to include everyone who would like to be remixed. Example: "SteveHouse - Something Completely Different and Succulent Poison." If possible those track names will be links to somewhere, in my case those tracks on my Soundcloud.
2. Somebody PMs me about it.
3. I render each individual track, or maybe in clumps (i.e. drums), to WAV files and send them along somehow. e-mail, upload, etc.
4. The remixer goes crazy.
5. The remix turns out as good as or better than the original.
6. Total victory.

If that's a good idea to you guys, feel free to add me as the first potential victim. SCD is here and Succulent is here.

Yeah thats an awesome idea- are you thinking an album specifically for that purpose?
I'd be interested in remixing one and maybe put mine on the line.

Only if there's that many remixes, which I honestly don't see. They'd have their places mostly on genre albums, I think, if applicable, but they could certainly make a general too.

I'd like to see a (Dark? Maybe too specific) Ambient album get going. Any ambienteers wanna participate?
🙈 🙉 🙊
#18
i have about 20 songs in various stages of completion. some are pretty good, others are kind of just empirements that didnt really pan out. ill upload a couple of my better ones sometime

oh and most i guess you would call ambient techno. i dont really pay much attention to electro genres, i just tend to call it all electro

I can say with 95% certainty that's gonna happen. Lord knows we have enough submissions that would fit.

About a third of the submissions have at least ambient elements in them. So yeah, it might be the first genre specific album to be released.

Also, any progress on our lovechild?

I need a free .AU drum machine. I can't keep using GarageBand's drums and expect to make a decent beat for Do it Live. Anybody know of anything?

Don't sent me to KVRAudio, I've been there.

Sample or synth based?

Not too bothered either way.

iDrum perhaps? It's pretty basic and loop/pattern based which suits it to live playing. You could always invest in an old hardware drum machine, a lot of decent ones go for around $100 these days.
#29
SteveHouse, do you want one which goes off midi input or one which is spereately programable? If you want the midi input one, take a look at battery 3. You can download the demo for free iirc, the only difference between the demo and the full version is that it only comes with 2 kits instead of about 80. But you can use your own samples anyway so that's not a problem.

Not 100% sure if that's right, but I think it is.

I can probably submit some new ambient stuff, most of the stuff I do in the electronic real though is either evant garde or industrial, don't know how well that would fit with most of the stuff I've heard on the albums, you can hear some of it my profile.

any generic multi voice sampler should work ok TBH, also you can get a shim to run UB VSTs in logic or garageband, which means you can get more free stuff.

xavier: I looked at iDrum. Don't remember why I decided it was no good, either, but I did.

entity: Thanks, I'll check it out.

Kid_T: Send it anyway. We're open to anything. Our only criteria is that it's well-produced, basically. Now explain this shim business.

the shim you are looking for is made by FXspansion, I'm not sure what it's called exactly or how much it costs, google the companies website for more information.

FXPansion VST to AU converter is a hundred bucks. If you know of a free equivalent I'll love you long time.......

no, I don;t, mainly because I don't use a Mac, apparently recent version of logic have one built in, but that's all I could find off hand.

Before I start working on songs for the new album(s), it would be great if I could get some feedback on the songs I made already. They are on my profile. I'm gonna try for a D'n'B song next, so I'll keep you posted on that as it goes.

Hey guys. I've done Music Technology at A Level for 2 years now, so I have a pretty decent understanding of the basics of Electronic Music. I have used Reason and Logic Pro to do this in my course. At home, I have just got a REAPER and I'm wondering if anyone else uses this? I'm finding it pretty difficult to start off with.

Also, can anyone link me to good freeware VSTi's? I really need a good synth and drum machine.

Thanks!

(Also, on my profile my "space compostion" is the best MIDI track I've created. It's supposed to be a piece of music that represents an adventure in space.)

I use reaper. I had a couple of demos up which I did with reaper but I took them down now. What kind of synth are you looking for?

As for drums, try battery 3.

Thanks mate. Captaincrunk told me about Analogue Warfare which is pretty good; I quite like it. But I would also like a synth that has a sort of "rave" sound if you know what I mean?
