I posted in threads like The Ultimate Wah Thread, never got feedback. So Ill ask, What Wah should I get, Im planning on getting a Slash wah. My friend has told me its great, and that I should get this. I am willing to buy it at the price if it is really that good, but Is there something better that doesnt pass 150?

Pretty sure anything CAE is more than 150 bucks bro.

Get the crybaby from hell. Despite being a dime signature wah, it's actually really nice.

i know a lot of people don't like it, but i adore the Ibanez weeping demon. more customizable sound over the Dunlop ones and cheaper than Morley bad horsie while having the "no click - put your foot on it to turn it on" feature going on

Don't bother with the Slash wah, the distortion in it is rubbish.

If you're going to go with a Crybaby, either get the GCB-95 and mod it or go for a 535Q. Otherwise, the new Ibanez WH-10 seems pretty interesting but sounds rather different from inductor-based wahs. Also consider the Weeping Demon as previously mentioned.

So the 535 doesnt need a mod?

I didn't really care for it when I played it either. I love the 535Q though.

If you play with alot of gain, look into the Morley Tremonti sig - switch-less is awesome.
The Weeping Demon sucks tone.

i have the Dime wah and so far it's pretty sweet, i NEVER use distortion from anything other than my amp (or sometimes an OD pedal), so the 'boost' function isn't too appealing to me as it adds some unwanted gain/noise. very tweakable, i'm really digging it. pretty great for rock and metal, and i've used it for cleans as well and still love it. i might actually keep this pedal a while lol.

When I tried wah pedals (I'll have a NPD soon) I found those switchless wahs kinda unpractical.

Sorry, I don't see how a switch-less system is less practical than a conventional system.

I saw a fairly recent video of Buckethead and it looks like he's using the Vox Big Bad Wah (either that or a modded Vox) He hasn't used the Snarling Dogs Mold Spore since about 2006, I don't think. Up until recently he had been using a Crybaby 535Q.

The distortion on the Slash wah is apparently useful as a boost, so maybe consider it.

Does the slash wah have true bypass as well? Because this is good to know.

i second the motion for the Morley Tremonti sig. i forgot about that one. played it once and it was the best wah to me. easiest thing to use and actually sounds good when playing heavy stuff (down tuned with alot of distortion)
#31
I used to have a weeping demon but it crapped out on me, I didn't even really use it much but the auto switch broke on it. I bought a bad horsie 2 and I couldn't be happier with it.

True bypass isn't automatically a good thing with wahs - they're the first pedal on a lot of peoples' boards so a high quality buffer is often better!

I wouldn't bother with the Slash Wah, it's the same price as the 535Q but doesn't sound nearly as good, with pointless features you'd never need.
And if you're buying it for the name kudos, remember that Slash doesn't actually use the 'Slash Wah': it's purely a marketing thing.

So I should go with the 535Q, Buckethead uses it and thats awesome

I use a morley bad horsey, and I love it. It doesn't mess with my cleans, but it isn't as strong if your using it for metal. I can't stand switch based wahs. But if you really want true bypass skip it.

I have a 535Q and absolutely love it. I'd get it over the Slash one.

ibanez wh-10 v2. i used to have the original one from the 80s but that died and the reissue is exactly the same design except in a metal casing as opposed to plastic. get one before ibanez realizes that 99$ is way too under priced for this pedal

07 Fender Custom Telecaster
09 Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster
09 Fulltone OCD V.4
10 Ibanez WH-10 V.2
