For me, being in a band has way more upsides than just playing shows and getting paid. So my band decided to bring a video camera around with us all the time and edit all the awesome shit that happens into one video and putting it on youtube

have any of you done this? Good idea?

My band and I have just decided to do this. We got our good friend to bring a camera everywhere with us. We start tomorrow.

Awesome idea. If I ever get in a band, I'll probably be the dude who gets involved with video making and podcasts.

I think it's a good idea. I love watching all that 'behind the scenes' stuff about my favorite bands. Interviews, road footage, studio journals, etc.

Sure it's a good idea. A lot of concert dvds that I've seen include stuff like this as bonuses. It's sort of like making a documentary of your band.

Seriously do it. Video blogs/podcasts like that are awesome, especially if you guys can bring the lulz. You might consider giving "inside looks" and stuff into your upcoming music, too.

KsE did that in the way that only they can... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjbp99MM-qs

I've not done it, but I personally feed on backstage stuff, and seeing what the performers are like in reality.

Same here.
I love watching YouTube videos of that stuff.

Early Sum41 videos, the 1st ones way before anyone had even herd of them. Its videos like this that are the reason I play in bands.

You keep seeing songs like KoC, SMBH, and Hysteria showing up on games, but I want Micro Cuts on either Rock Band or Sing Star. I want to see numerous masses of kids staring at the tv wondering what the hell they're supposed to do.
