Hey...well I have a Line 6 Pod Studio...And it seems to be enough for me. However, I want to mic my amp up (Laney AOR 50) and record instead of using DAW (I think?).

What mic would you suggest?

Would it be a good idea to get something small such as an epi valve jr so I can crank it?

Budget is within £60 for a mic

Many Thanks

Does the pod studio have an XLR input, or just a jack?

You can probably find a Shure SM57 for £60 if you shop around (especially in the sales), I got mine for £55 from a local shop (second hand, but never used).

If the pod studio doesn't have an XLR input you have 3 options

1. buy an XLR-Jack cable - This is probably the least costly, but I couldn't say how good the results would be.

2. buy an external preamp - They vary in price, but this would make your recordings sound better.

3. buy an interface with built in preamps.

Ah right, it appears that microphone prices have shot up since I last bought one - just be careful if you shop used, there are a lot of fakes kicking around.
