So I have an old Ibanez RG550, ('89 I believe) and the pickup selector for awhile has been scratchy and cuts out from time to time. I recently bought new pickups (tone zone and air norton set) so I figured while I had it apart, I would replace the selector toggle... Allparts carries 5 way toggles for strats specifically, but I have doubts about the compatibility.... Can anyone point me in the right direction?
a 5 way switch is a 5 way switch the only difference between them is the quality of the parts used to make the switch, so any will be ok
but will the distance between the screws be identical? Is my guitar wired like this: http://www.jemsite.com/articles-menu/pickups-a-wiring-5-way-switch-/ ?
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f35/wiring-diagram-for-rg550-a-68912.html I think this diagram means its a normal switcher, and not a 4 pole 5 way switcher... confirmation?
The biggest difference will be in the depth the switch protrudes beneath the pickguard. Some of the import switches are not as tall as a CLR or Oak switch. I don't know what kind your old RG will have.
