I recently bought the memory boy and am unhappy with it. To my ears it sounds sterile, mecanic and thin. Hence why I shall be returning it next weekend.

What would the Echo digital delay be like?

I like bands such as slash's snakepit, yngwie, guns n roses, hendrix, skid row etc

thanks

Are you using lots of distortion?

Because IMO, analog delays don't really get along well with any gain.

Where are you running the Memory Boy? In the loop or in front?

Greg what did you send me??

Yes. Running it in the loop will make it sound cleaner.

I haven't used it in the loop.

I just used it by itself without the loop to see what it was like.

Does the look change a lot?

yes.

the key element/appeal of analog delays are the warm, slightly increasing saturated repeats. running an analog delay through the front of your amp, not only are your repeats going to get muddy naturally from the delay, but your preamp will distort them as well. Putting the MB your effects loop will put it after the preamp and might clairify and fatten up the tone.

HACHEDIT: ^ looks like im a little late. oh well. at least now you know WHY it sounds better

hahaha thanks man !

I don't know what to do now. I was overcharged by £20 for this (bought for £90!) and was gonna take it back. Are there any other delays that would be better to get instead of the memory boy?

I'm debating whether to keep or let go

cheers folks !

I'm not sure you could get something better for that kind of money.

haha yeah...20 pounds is a lot to a student.

I was thinking of getting a boss ns-2 second hand aswell. Because I shall be getting a distortion pedal arriving soon and may need to consider the unwanted noise

EDIT: Would this be a good idea...If I take the pedal back, and downgrade to the memory toy second hand as I don't need the extras.

Are they alike?
