Since my main guitar got stolen I have been checking some stuff on the net.... and I found carvin guitars, but I have some questions for you!

1) How can be possible that my "dream" custom shop 7 strings was only about 1024 usd?
2) Are they reliable?
3) some guy offered me a 1998 Ibanez UV 77 with some scratches ( 7,5/10) for 1200 euros...... please help me!

my other option is to buy an Agile interceptor and save money for pickups and stuff...

dude i love carvin and if you really search on their website you can find that they are a very small place that you can get your custom made instrument direct from them for pretty cheap.im fixing to order one of my own.they are so sweet lots of ppl like jason becker and marty friedman plyaed them.

Carvins are fantastic. They cost less because they are a small company that sells direct. They are as good as anything else you are going to find, and better than most.

1500 Euros sounds a little steep for the UV77, but not having seen it, I can't give you an informed opinion. I'd go with the Carvin. Both the Carvin and the UV77 are going to be superior to the Agile. Of course, the Agile is going to cost a great deal less.

They are very reliable, the prices are great, no cutbacks or anything, just good prices.
A strat to rival a Fender US (though a bit more modern than a Fender strat) cost £600 as opposed to £800.

Though, for €1200 I'd be tempted to go for the UV knowing what the prices for the production model of UV are like now.

as far as I know.... 1998 was a great year for Jap made guitar, better than 00's and so, but a CS guitar is also a temptation..... the cheaper way to go is Agile if I dont get used to 7 strings but I dont wanna have to buy 2 guitars

the uv costs 1200 euros, I can upload some pics if you want jeje

Sorry, it's been a long night and my eyes are going. 1200 Euros comes out to just over US$1700.00, so that is still a bit steep. Of course, I know that things cost more over there. Pics would be good. I'd still take the Carvin, but I think you'll be happy with either of them.

The necks are very nice and very fast. They are thin, but not super-shredder Washburn thin. They have some of the best dressed ebony fretboards since the very high-end Yamahas of the late 70s to early 80s (if you remember those, they were spectacular beyond belief). The fretboard radius on a 7-string Carvin will be 14," which is a good one for 7-strings. You can even choose the finish (or lack thereof) on the back of the neck.

their CS is plain awsome, lacks some colours options and pickups but very satisfying, I would kill for custom Inlays too....... something like a heartbeat or stuff..

Carvin sells direct. That makes it TONS cheaper. Out of all those choices, you should definitely get the Carvin.

Condoms, for all the copious amounts of pussy with which you will be inevitably bombarded from this moment onward.

Carvin necks are kind of like a Gibson and Ibanez mix. The radius is often flat like an Ibanez, and the neck is somewhat thin... but the neck has a Gibson shape and is a little bulkier than an Ibanez. Also the fretboard is narrow like a Gibson.

well, then is a good neck for me, cos gibbys and schecter's ones give me the creeps :S

Don't forget, the carvin will also add shipping, import fees etc.

EDIT: did you make the guitar in their quota thingy, or did you just go by the price stated at the main model page?

A business like carvin has to put up the price as they are the seller.

Since it's insured under their name they won't lower the price just caise you don't wanna pay full, thus you'll have to suckup the import fees.

Shipping to where I live is 250-350 USD, I'm guessing itll floa between 175 and 350 to spain, import fees/taxes is for you to find out, amigo

btw, 1024 usd + 375 for shippinh ends up towards 970 Euros.

20% added is ± 1164 euros total.

Thats dirt dirt dirt cheap for an US custom

1164 euros is less atractive than 800 as I thought

I've been looking to buy a Carvin as well. Does anyone know the exact neck dimensions of their neck-through guitars? (e.g. nut width, thickness at 1st and 12th fret, etc)

but it's still cheaper than the UV and it's a CUSTOM.

IF you wanna know all the cost details just email Carvin, I don't see how hard that is.

Ok, I'm pretty insterested in what answer they give.

Also it might be wise to ask your customs office how much import fees are and from what price they come into play.
