In my earlier post today my Strat project is nearly done. My neck does not have a string tree on it for the high e and b strings. I know the Eric Johnson Strat does not have one, what is the benefit of these, and do I really need one?

it's just for pulling the string across the nut at the proper angle. not really needed. my '63 hofner doesnt have one either.

the EJ sig strat has staggered tuners so it doesnt need string trees.
