Uhh, doubt it. Idk about the laptops, but I'm like 99% sure you can upgrade the desktops...

Laptops in general can't be upgraded unless its ram or cpu. Everything else is pretty much soldered onto the board.

Ah, I see. Got plenty of RAM. And by CPU do you mean a processor?

Downloading RAM? Soo sketchy.

you can't upgrade the CPU on any laptop. RAM and hard drive are about all that's really upgradeably on most laptops, and I see no reasons why a gateway desktop would be any less upgradeable than any other.

They could conceivably use custom motherboards and components that use non-standard slots, or have everything fixed to the motherboard in a non-replaceable manner, but I can't see why they'd bother.

Exactly, the only reason to do it would be to force people into buying full new machines periodically, but there's nothing chaining the customer to the manufacturer, so there's no guaranteed gain.

Infact, it would be likely to cause the sort of person who upgrades their computer instead of replacing it to avoid buing from them in the first place, so it's a completely stupid idea.
