Hey, posted a thread about a gear over-haul not long ago (guitar and amp), although that was more geared toward the guitar (should be a strat roadhouse).

So now I'm looking for ideas for a VERSITITLE low watt combo that isn't any more than say £500.

Preferably 1 speaker to keep size down, but not crucial.

New or used. I'm in the UK.

Current ideas:

Jet City combo - Don't know much about these, apprently they're good.
Mesa F30 combo - Perfect if I could find on used
Bugera Vseries - Again, don't know much.

Anyway idea's greatly appreciated!

laney vc-30 - supposed to be pretty good
marshall ma50c - supposed to be a good budget marshall but has mixed reviews
peavey 6505+ - supposed to be pretty good and excels in metal

Look for the F30 or the Dual Cal series used

if you want a modelling amp just get a tube Vypyr or a flextone

I wouldn't call the 6505 versatile

TS, it would help if we knew what you were mainly going to use the amp for.

Mainly bedroom, but some jamming with others.
I play clean, blues light rock.. all the way up to metal. Any live playing I'll either use a ex.cab or mic it up.

The Jet City is a GREAT choice mate. It can go from classical to metal, covers all ranges for what you want. AWESOME sounding amplifier, not to mention it comes with two
EL84s The note clarity is fantastic as well, even with high gain.

For metal however, you'll need a boost to tighten up the sound and get that extra distortion.

All interesting suggestions.

I remember I really like the Blackstar artisan 15... just wonder if I could find one cheap enough.
But interested in the possible HT-40 too!

Why post if you don't have any actual experience?

I'd be looking at the Mesa DC, F series, the Traynor YCV series, and Jet City's offerings.

all i was doing was mentioning amps that ts could look at that have had good things said about them, unlike some i live in the middle of nowhere where i have to travel 3 hours by car or train to get decent gear
