Abstract may not be the right word here, but you'll understand in a bit what I mean.

I would love to be able to write songs like Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) or Ryan Ross (Panic! At The Disco), they write kind of abstract lyrics, as in they aren't sort of throwing it in your face, it's not just like
"One day I woke up, walked down the lane" sort of thing...
Here's an example-

"And I've traced your shadows on the wall
Now I kiss them whenever I'm down
Whenever I'm down
Figured on not figuring myself out

Things aren't the same anymore
Some nights, they get so bad
I almost pick up the phone

Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts
And walk through this house in your shoes,
You know it's strange
It's a strange way of saying
That I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you"

(G.I.N.A.S.F.S - Fall Out Boy)

Like, how do they think of it?
How could I think of it?
Any help, just some ways to write lyrics like this, would be much appreciated, thankyou

Think of the themes they sing about, then just basically write about something similar and in a similar fashion every band does it...

like: "And I've traced your shadows on the wall
Now I kiss them whenever I'm down
Whenever I'm down
Figured on not figuring myself out"

you could write summit like: "its been weeks since you left
i'm too scared to sit in the dark by the mantle
because the shadows only haunt me
and i try to think of the times, when you illuminated my life"

summit like that, i'm not the best at this but hell no-one else was helping..
hope i could help man x
