I'm thinking of installing the Bill and Becky model L500XL in my LTD MH-1000 which is mahogany.

I'm looking for tight bottom ends with clear note definition when hitting chords. The guitar will be used for mostly thrash metal.

How does the L500XL usually sound in mahogany?

they actually sound pretty good in mahogany they tend to mush up if you have too much bass in your tone though, I expierimented because dimebag used them, only to find out his were custom made for him and wired backwards, through my Dual recto at the time in a gibson v, good sound, notes were clear and easily heard in channel 2, when i went to 3 which was more aggressivly EQed i noticed a mushyness in the bottom end, i pulled the bass back alittle and adjusted my mids and it sounded stellar afterwards
