Well I posted it because on the first link, you have the first reply that says
"Gates are made to cut the sound bellow a certain level (threshold) and waiting for a time to open/close (attack). Noise suppressor are dynamic filter that remove 60Hz hum and harmonics and are often coupled with a noise gate."

Also a bit further down there was a link that had someone ask "is there a difference between gate and noise suppressor?"
with the reply
"Yeah, a gate will generally be a bit more of an extreme "open or closed" device, whereas a suppressor will be more of a subtle filter."
