Yes, I am proud to say I'm a Green Day fan. Any band who two of their members names their kids after the Ramones is okay with me.

Yeah... he still hasn't finished it.

Or did he? Because that was a terrible way to go out...

I'm surprised this thread is still going.

Maybe the longest amount of time a green day thread has been open on this forum? I smell a world record.

Insomniac is by far the best Green Day album.

Get your hands on the dookie demos though, they are sooooo much better for being rawer.
#22
Definitely the Dookie Demos.

But Insomniac by fair is a bit of a stretch. I would say Dookie is the best, but Insomniac and Nimrod are right behind. Stay away from Warning, except for Misery and Minority.

^ Nah, warning's a great album. Especially "Castaway" and "Church on Sunday".

It's not a punky album at all, we see a much folkier side to the group, but its the album where the songs are the most consistent.

Insomniac's my favourite because it has the most driving, powerful sound out of all their records. Presumably because they were bouncing back from their consignment to the pop genre after Dookie.

He speaks the truth.
"You have brains in your head,
You have feet in your shoes,
You can steer yourself,
any direction you choose,
You're on your own,
And you know what you know,
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go."

Warning is the reason I stopped liking Green Day. That album was so disappointing and then they didn't make anything quality after that. I basically just gave up on them. I don't mind hearing the odd Green Day song from time to time, but I'm not going to actively listen to it.
#26
You can all hate me for it but I really did like American Idiot. Sure it wasn't "punky" but it's the better than most of the crap you hear on the radio today, including Green Day's newest disappointment. American Idiot was the first album I ever bought that I still like.

greendayfan69, my personal favorite album by them is Insomniac. Kerplunk is my second favorite.

And since this is in the punk forum anyway, check out these bands:

Operation Ivy
The Mr. T Experience
Pinhead Gunpowder
Crimpshrine
Fifteen
J Church
Screeching Weasel

You might find something you like in that list
I'm the type of nigga that's built to last
If you fuck with me, I'll put my foot in your ass
See, I don't give a fuck cause I keep bailin
Yo, what the fuck are they yellin?!

Listen to JesusofSbrbia, those bands are good, and you might recognize a song by Operation Ivy that Green Day covers a lot.

I found a promo version of Green Day's last album at work, so I took it home for my dad, who would probably dig it.

Btw, your all n00bs, I've been here the longest.
