A lot of people agree that there was a bit of a 1980s renaissance in the noughties: most notably (but not exclusivley) in music, where pop reverted back to 80's-style electro-pop and most indie bands seemed to be asking themselves what their favourite 80s acts would do every time they sat down to write tunes.

So, my question to you is this, Pitmonkeys: if the same thing were to happen this decade, except with the 70's making a comeback, how would you feel about it and what would you welcome/curse the return of, in music, fashion, whatever?

i already kinda tried to bring it back... but it was in a tiny ass town, and i just kinda got laughed at. Plus its super hard to find bell bottoms nowadays.

70s have already shown influence with the rise of post rock/post metal, etc.

The experimentation of the prog rock/krautrock styles of the 70s influenced those genres immensely, IMO.

The ideals of the 80s helped create some AMAZING things this past decade, but the 70s have been around just about as much.

I'd totally love it if it were a 70's comeback. I'd hate if Disco came back.

See you there, in the 2020s

Of course, if it keeps up that way we'll find ourselves in the neo-1800s. Shame I won't live to see real-life steampunk.

Soundgarden, alice in chains and stone temple pilots have all reformed, not to mention the grunge bands that never broke up. The 90's is coming back.

I'm not sure if it's even possible (seeing as it's a pretty limited art form) but I'd love to see punk make a proper comeback and erase all memories Green Day and Blink 182

I think Rancid was the closest we got to a true 70s punk revival.

Now if true to form hardcore punk could have a comeback...

I don't neccaserily see a 70's comeback, but a seventies influence.Particularly in the whole psychadelic kinda stuff. But at the same time blended with new trends, ideas and technologies.
Just imagine if Jimmy Page had had a mesa and some super high out put pick ups?

The 90's were horrible. Are you kidding me? It turned from party into depression and apathy and it killed the sports car and replaced it with an SUV. Long live the 1980's!

As for the 70's, it would be pretty cool, I just hope this...

doesn't come back.

I'd really love if we could find our own sound.
Not that there's anything wrong with the other decades, but they all have there own distinct sound. The 00's didn't really have that.

Ya baby. Disco revival. Immediately followed by my self termination sequence. The '70s were horrid.

I'm all for the 60's coming back. Stuff like the Beatles becoming popular and all that. Maybe even a Woodstock revival that won't suck balls like the last one did. I've been wearing tye dyed clothes for a while now in hopes it will....

Oh come on, Don. Bring out that white suit from the back of the closet and start growing that afro again.

There is a white suit that my uncle wore to his prom or something that fits me perfectly somewhere, so I'd join you. >.>

You'd be all alone Stephen. I've never owned anything made of polyester.
If we want to do a '70s revival it's gotta be all about Southern Rock or else I'm opting out and I am going to go straight to the Ramones.

Seriously, those things were AMAZING. Smaller, hatchback body, lightweight, and it had a 5.0 liter V8 (a 302 small block to the American crowd) in it. Seriously cool little car.

It probably needs work in the suspension, brakes, etc. but they're awesome little cars.

....Hasn't emo basically died already?

I mean, all of the emo kids basically turned into scene kids, or just went normal, everyday goth.

Emo's pretty much been gone for over a year now.

yeah a lot of 70s crap came back in the 90s, so if the trend continues, we're in for a grunge revival.
