Hi, recently my tone on my peavey 6505 has gone too shit. It sounds super muddy and the gain is almost non-existent. I bought this thing brand new just over two years ago. Now my suspicion (and correct me if I'm wrong), is that it's failing tubes. So my question is, what are the proper tubes to be putting in to my amp? And will I have to re-bias it?

6L6 t00bz brah. Grab a quad (assuming it's the head).

Re-biasing should always be done when switchin teh power t00bz. Most tube sellers have bias probes for cheap, so grab one and look up how to do it, or just get a tech to do it.

a 5150 and 6505 are fixed cold biased amps. so you don't have to rebias them. to get a good opinion on what tubes to buy, go to www.eurotubes.net and they will have different options and their description for what each option sounds like. It's where I got my tubes and my amp sounds great.
