HI, I have only owned solid state amps and I know valve amps are louder, so will a Marshall DSL401 40 watt combop be loud enough for smaller gigs? Also, how long do I have to leave it on before I can turn the standby on? Thanks in advance.

I usually wait anywhere from 10-30 seconds.
Only play what you hear. If you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything.

the dsl401 is pleny loud enough for what you want, generally you can leave it about 15 seconds after you put the power on then you can trip the standby, i heard that the best results come from leaving it on for a few mins no longer than 10 mins then your tubes will start burning out
