Album of the 00's Part I: 2000 (Read the first goddamn post this time)

Well good morning sausage gathering, today, I am making a start on the huge undertaking that will be whittling down the top metal albums of last decade. Let me show you how it will be done.

Every Sunday, We will proceed to narrow down the top contenders for each year. Each user can pick 10 albums for that year, in no specific order. The 10 most voted-for albums will be included in the shortlist for the final vote. There is no postitioning in this vote, every album you vote for will get one point.

Some ground rules here, to make counting easier there is to be no chat in this thread, all discussion shall take place here. Posts should be lists of 10 in the format "Band - Album". As so:

Quote by Dyer's Eve
Borknagar - Quintessence
Decapitated - Winds of Creation
Devin Townsend - Physicist
Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris
Nevermore - Dead Heart, in a Dead World
Nightingale - I
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Primordial - Spirit the Earth Aflame
Quo Vadis - Day Into Night
Vader - Litany

For some help in compiling your choices, I recommend 2 things. First off Go here. And also, if you're like me, and quite anal about your tags, then your respective media players will have features that can filter/display the albums with 2000 in the year tag.

Same rules as last time regarding what can be voted for, obviously bands selected must coincide with the forum's rules and it is full-lengths only. If it is a non-metal album by a metal artist then i'm afraid they are also not accepted.

Happy voting.

EDIT:*ahem* For those of you who haven't guessed by reading the thread title, this vote is for the year 2000 only...

If I took this cigarette and put it out on you...

I’m not the man I used to be, I... I can’t go back to Arkham.

I... I should return to Arkham.

I have come home to Arkham.

Iron maiden - brave new world
iron maiden - a matter of life and death
mayhem - grand declaration of war
#24
Reserved, as well as to be continued.

2000:
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Nevermore - Dead Heart In A Dead World
High On Fire - The Art Of Self Defense
Goatsnake - Flower Of Disease
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Spiritual Beggars - Ad Astra
Vader - Litany
Borknagar - Quintessence
Behemoth - Thelema 6
Martyr - Warp Zone

Some of these are actually default options, because right now can't think of a proper 10 that were the ultimate best.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

Ok well here goes.. Only a few albums and you might find many great ones missing..

Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising (should top 2000's list)
Immortal - Damned in Black
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Immolation - Close to a World Below
Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris
Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper

Think that's about it.. I don't think I know any other from 2000..

One other thing.. Metalstorm has LoG in thrash!
Wann kann ich dich von diesem Ort wegbringen?
Wann ist der Tod unser einziger Zuschauer?
Wann können wir schreien anstatt zu flüstern?
Wann ist der neue Anfang das Ende dieses traurigen Madrigals?

Ah, shiiiiiit. I couldn't think of one metal album of the year 2000 on my own except for Lamb of God's New American Gospel, and to be honest that isn't all that great either.

Bah. I didn't realize how stale 2000 was. Nonetheless, here's what gets repeated listening from me:

Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element, Part I
Alchemist - Organasm
Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising
Immolation - Close to a World Below
Martyr - Warp Zone
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Primordial - Spirit the Earth Aflame
Quo Vadis - Day Into Night
Slough Feg - Down Among the Deadmen
Tvangeste - Damnation of Regiomontum

And because I just can't go without mentioning these which were so close to making it on there:
Symphony X - V: The New Mythology Suite (I don't listen to them much in general anymore, but this album used to get an assload of listens from me.)
Everything else: Incantation, Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Weakling, Vital Remains, Desaster, Destruction, The Dev (Admittedly, I have not listened to Physicist that much compared to all of his other albums).
I've found Jesus
#32
Quo Vadis - Day into Night
ISIS - Celestial
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Disturbed - The Sickness (if this doesn't count, I can take it off. Figured it might be allowed, but if not, it's cool. )
Mudvayne - LD 50 (again, I can take it off, if need be. )
The Devin Townsend Band - Physicist
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance

That's all I got. I'm missing a good bit from 2000, probably.

i've always found pop to be harder to play than metal... especially shred metal... it's just really fast tremolo picking and the occasional palm mute... and the only chords you have to worry about are power chords...
