So i've been playing for about a year now, and my parents got me a guitar kit to build an sg for christmas. I'm pretty sure the body is bass wood and I'm wondering how i would go about painting it a solid color (probably fiesta red). I know you can buy special guitar paint from places like reranch and stewmac, but I'm wondering if i could just take it to an auto shop and have them paint it there. If so, how would this affect the sound? Or is this a bad idea?

Yeah. You can do that. Honestly, you wont notice a difference in sound at all.

you can also paint it yourself using normal primer and spray paint.
