So, I'm sure half of you weren't even around for it, but a while back we did this little collaborative Ramones tribute.

Well, digging through my files, I happened upon three of the seven tracks that were submitted.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/jhmmk5

Enjoy.

I actually wish any copy of my contribution still existed. It was funny.

I'm gonna rerecord We're A Happy Family for kicks now.

I remember hearing about this once...*download'd*

EDIT: God these are terrible

Why did the 53rd and 3rd one start with the intro from a RATM song?

I think we should do another one. But good >_>

I'm up for another one. I have actual recording equipment now!

Only, you know, we should actually do this one. We've talked about doing another one in the past.

Not the Ramones, another band.

OR, any band.

And by any band, I don't mean any punk band, but they all have to be punk covers.

We could do a punk version of a shitty rnb compilation, for example.

Another one would be awesome.

I've always thought it would be cool to do punk versions of Beatles songs.

That involves arranging.

I don't like arranging.

I'm not good at it.

Me first and the Gimme Gimmes also never arrange, they just pick the chords make powerchords out of them and play it faster and distorted. So no arranging is needed

But they're shit >_>

The problem with the idea of a tribute is that it would be really hard to come up with a band besides something like the Ramones or Black Flag or Crass or Op Ivy that enough people could get into.

We should really just make a collection of EPs and all branch off and do what we want. A collection of mini-tributes. So here's how this could work out:

Jawbreaker. Too many of you like them. A tribute EP would be no problem.
Subhumans. Come on. Who doesn't like the Subhumans?
Bad Religion. You know, something for all the non-regs to submit that isn't Rancid or NOFX.
The Queers, Screeching Weasel, or any of the other popular pop-punk bands.

I'd be willing to help people learn songs so long as they aren't difficult to learn or like Lemuria with nothing but made-up chords. (molly what the hell those songs are weird)

So you know what, let's do it. We haven't had any forum-wide shenanigans in a while. Let's get something going. Or I will be forced to call you all girly-men.
Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need. Aim it right, and you can blow a kneecap off the world.

I like how I can recognize Mat's voice but Jordan sounds so different it's almost unbelievable.

Me and Jett could feasibly do a Briefs/Cute Lepers one.

And a couple of other people, obv, but there's one right there.

Thanks for telling me that. I come from a faraway galaxy where we have sarcasm but no concept of "humour."

The obvious solution is to do Crass.

Didn't we do more of these back in the day, for different bands? Or am I crazy?

I remember that we've tried to do similar things a couple times over the past couple of years, with everyone playing different instruments and stuff. I would totally be up for this.

My (recently deceased) uncle apparently knew the members of Crass.

My uncle was a twat.

I dislike Crass.

I was working on an acoustic version of "Subvert City" a while back... I'd love an excuse to pick that back up.

I know there was at least a Black Flag one.. I was supposed to do Rise Above but never did.

I'd be down for Crass... I've already written two acoustic versions of Crass songs (Do They Owe Us a Living and Securicor)

I think that this is a great idea. I would definately put in guitar or vocals for a song. I think that the punk forum should just rerecord a great album like Energy by Op Ivy or Suffer by Bad Religion. Just something everyones into.

Yeah, I tried to do a Black Flag one. It was a disaster.

If it's gonna be a band most of us like, why not the Dead Kennedys?
