I saw where the last BFMV thread was closed over a year ago because nobody had anything constructive to say about the band. But, with their new album coming out sometime soon (hopefully), I thought we could use another BFMV thread.

So, DISCUSS

Personally, I hope they go more towards their roots with this new album with more screaming, but keep a lot of the technicality of Scream Aim Fire

BTW, if any of the mods dont think we need another of these threads yet then feel free to close it

I absolutely hated The Poison, only good song was Hand of Blood. Then I got Scream Aim Fire when it came out and although it was a bit generic, I found it to be a good listen. I'll get the new album, but I'm not really sure what to expect. I'd just like for them to try and vary the songs overall.

I’ve come to take back what’s rightfully mine and now you’re damned
The lights grow dark in their homes
But our road is lit by fire from the sky
So we push forward

Is there a release date for the new album?

it seems as though they've been writing and recording it forever now

Well, I listened to them to the point of getting sick of them in the first half of '09, gave them a break, and have come back recently to review before the new album.

Basically, I fell in love with the Poison ---
Sure, maybe the lyrics are a bit bland and too straighforward and the message is something some people don't like, combined with their emo-ish persona, but the album spoke to me in a time where that was what I needed to hear, and I still love it now.

I also went back and listened to their early EP stuff ---
Their style then was actually really different, and at times I see potential that they... sort of shifted away from when they made the poison, especially in Turn To Despair (still one of my favorites by them) and Just Another Star (the screaming mostly had a really weird sort of almost nu-metal slightly hip-hop influenced rhythm to it, even though that sounds strange)

And then there's Scream Aim Fire ---
where I felt that they lost a lot of something, gained a little of something else, and generally made some awesome songs to listen to when you're in a simplistic Bad-ass mood, or when you want to hear some really nicely done acoustic versions (Hearts is SOOOO good acoustic). The F&A anthem closer track is also fist pumpingly cool.

And lastly their 'sort of' EP that they put on the Bonus Edition S,A,F ---
Which shows yet another sort of strange direction for them. It's not really going backwards to the poison in sound or style, so I'm not quite sure what to expect from their next album, but I do know that Road to Nowhere is kinda nice and Ashes of the Innocent is really intense.

Also, if you've heard it, their cover of No Easy Way Out (Robert Tepper) is immensely full of win sauce. Their Metallica covers ain't bad either if you like modernized versions of 'tallica songs.

I would say pretty much the worst thing I've ever heard from BFMV is the two bonus songs that got included on the deluxe edition of The Poison. Those kinda sucked.

So what are your thoughts TS?

OH YEAH!
quick edit:
Who Do You Think You Are is pretty awesome... (you guys reminded me of it)
It's a bit simple, but I get the chorus stuck in my head and the pre-solo/solo is pretty cool I guess. I'm mostly impressed by that video because they seem pretty cool live and hold their shit up really well to a live audience.

I think this belongs more into the metal forum than the hardcore forum.
But on topic, I like their Hand Of Blood EP, but everything theyve come out with after that has been shit IMO

Well first of all, I love pretty much everything by BFMV because theyre the band that really got me into metal when I was just a rock person, and even though I like a lot heavier and more metal stuff now, I still love listening to and playing some bullet.

Now, the poison is my favorite album by them as of now because its got everything. It has heavier songs like Room 409 and Her Voice Resides, and it has some softer stuff and a lot in between.

I just recently got the Scream Aim Fire Deluxe edition CD and heard a few new songs that I must have missed before, like Deliver Us From Evil (which is now my favorite song). I really like the guitar on this album but I wish it had more screaming.

As for the new song, I love the main riff and the solo. As far as singing goes, its good for what it is but again screaming would have wen really well with the verse of that song

The only thing I have to say is I recorded at the same studio they always record at, and touched a cat that matt tuck almost payed 2k for.

cheers for the link matt, song sounds pretty good i reckon, the guitar harmony after the second chorus is just pure bullet, something that i reckon was missing a bit from SAF. Also the solo was pretty good, it fitted the song nicely.

Does anyone else reckon that the picture that Pag has below his bridge on his guitar kinda looks silly?, but the rest of the guitar is mean as, especially the fretboard

I swear that Jay has put on weight, and he looked better with short hair lol

Btw this song is being released on the radio in March i think.

*Big ass post*

This basically sums up everything i think of BFMV.

I used to be really big into them when Scream, Aim, Fire came out but since then have gotten bored of them. I'll probably get back into them when their new CD comes out.

Scream, Aim, Fire had some really ****ing good scream in it i thought and hope they don't change much and the production was perfect IMO.
There's no death, no end of time when I'm facing it with you...

in case you guys don't know I F*CKING LOVE BULLET! goddamn this album better come out soon.

and I agree with what just about everyone said. Scream Aim Fire was a bit of a step backwards. hopefully they go back to their early sound with this album. new song sounds sick.

I heard, and I'm pretty sure its a confirmed rumor, that the new album is called here comes the storm.
#18
dude wtf? everywhere i look says its called Here Comes the Storm (as augustschechter mentioned) and says it came out SEPTEMBER 14, 2009

EDIT: Well this is what wiki says:

Quote by Wikipedia
January 2010 interview with Rock Sound, frontman Matt Tuck said the planned release date for the as-yet-untitled 11-track album is in late April 2010. He also said the album would sound more like The Poison than Scream Aim Fire and would contain no ballads ... The first single off the album, titled "Your Betrayal", will go to radio on March 8, 2010, according to FMQB.[31]

I loved these guys a few years ago. The Poison was great.
As others have said, they helped me get into heavier stuff.

I will definately give the new album a good listen. Looking forward to it.

"Who do you think you are" was a little dissappointing though. Boring song...

I don't think that it was boring, i thought that it was actually a pretty good song.
unfortunately it did kind of follow along the same bullet formula that they have been known to use. e.g. Singing Verse, Screaming Pre-Chorus, Singing Chorus, Singing Verse, Screaming Pre-Chorus, Then a harmonized bridge (sometimes with singing), solo, and back to Chorus.

This formula has been used too often by them in my opinion (classic example = deliver us from evil), more so on SAF than the poison. More screaming would be a definite plus to me.

I hope they change some of this up a bit and make their next record more interesting. A few pre verse solo's would be welcomed

+1 I loved the production on SAF, the whole album sounded brilliant.

Am I the only one who likes SAF better than The Poison? It just seemed more mature and consistent than The Poison to me.
#29
I think that SAF was a lot more consistent that the poison, the songs were all at the same level of awesomeness.

But the poison had a couple of songs that i thought were better than anything on SAF, e.g. All These Things I Hate, Tears don't Fall, Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow and Hand Of Blood

Some songs on SAF came very close to these e.g. Waking The Demon, Deliver Us From Evil

But because the poison had more of these standout songs many people will think it is the better album. Personally i can't choose between the two, they are both great pieces of work.

Yeah I'd have to agree with all of that, except I still like Scream Aim Fire better. Yeah I do think it was more consistent, that's the word I was looking for.
#31
i also reckon if Matt hadn't have had that problem with his voice then SAF would have probs been better than the poison, Matts voice was way way better on the poison. Hopefully it will be as good as new on new album though.
#32
I thought it was better on SAF, on the poison it just seemed as though he didn't hit the notes properly and seemed a little monotoned to me, whereas SAF I found his vocals to be way better. But that's just my opinion.

Yes he did sound a bit monotone of some of the poison songs e.g Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow. But then he put in performances like All These Things I Hate, Tears Don't Fall and Hit The Floor which IMO are better vocals and most songs of SAF
#34
Hit the floor is an amazing track, which was written back in their jeff killed john days.
Yeah the vocals are good on those songs, i still sya he's clean vocals im proved greatly on SAF.

but he had more diversity with his voice on the poison, he didn't just have to rely on Jay to do all of the screaming like in SAF, he could do it himself, and in my opinion his screaming is much better than Jays, so hopefully he will re-take over the screaming role on their next release

Bit concerned for new album tbh, read a few interviews awhile back and it seemed the new album could be softer - more towards hard rock.

I'm sorta expecting a more mainstream album tbh

hopefully they will be like ultra crafty and leak like a Rick Astley compilation instead of the new album, that would serve those torrent people right for being impatient
