Their is a serious lack of love for Sludge bands around hear, and it's just inexcusable.Sludge is the hybrid of Doom Metal with Hardcore and is some of the most crushing, passionate and mind blowing music around.Snail paced monolithic riffs, drenched in fuzz and full of pure anger and distress.Whats not to love?

The arm and sword of a bastard god

Thou

Corrupted

Grief

Eyehategod

Dystopia

and the list goes on.....

Mammoth Grinder and Lair of the Minotaur kick considerable amounts of ass

Melvins are indeed sludge, they're pretty much the begging of the genre. I need to check Crowbar out. Don't remember liking The Ocean.

So, how about that No-hope, huh? Get some Crowbar up in here?

EW isn't really sludge.Just groovy Traditional Doom i would say(the band that got me into doom).Good list of bands their regardless of genre. Sludge is far to unappreciated. Was it Noothgrush Severed ?

I'll take a look.

The only thing I remembered was the vocals being completely grunted and nasty, the only had one song on their myspace too.
#10
hmm, might come to mind later. That Mammoth Grinder song was incredible, they just got a new fan!

Also have any of you heard Mind Eraser-conscious unconscious. Incredible mix of Sludge and Grind,it's only 2 songs but it's an incredible release.Best lead work I've heard in the genre.

also, crowbar indeed.

Aren't they hardcore? But they are crushing indeed.

To be honest, Eyehategod is the only thing anyone ever needs. Everyone here, go listen to His Hero Is Gone. Perfect blend of sludge and crust. Oroku too. Neo-crust should fit perfectly here.

Another stellar band.

Baroness are great, Kylesa I haven't heard, don't plan on listening to them. Anyways, let's listen to ONLY THE MOST CRUSHING OF METUHL.

EDIT: Heard of Mind Eraser, haven't heard them ,will check out.

Why? Kylesa rule.

Wait...what's this about Powerviolence? Is that an offshoot of sludge, crust, punk and grindcore or something?

if we're talking powerviolence then I'll throw out:

Sludge ****ing rules. On the subject of Mind Eraser, that's powerviolence., super fast hardcore plus sludgy bits.

Graves at Sea
Cavity
Eyehategod
Fistula
Goatsnake
Noothgrush
Iron Monkey
Leechmilk
Laudanum
Toadliquor

The list goes on and on

Actually you are correct, i always forget that PV has more to it then Man Is The Bastard haha. The sludgy bits make it acceptable for this thread. Also His Hero Is Gone is one of the best bands ever.Brilliant guitar riffs,so melodic but dissonant and crushing at the same time. The Endless Blockade is wicked also, i have their split with Hatred Surge and it's powerful stuff.I'm loving how this thread is turning out!

Rotten To Forgotten has one of the tastiest intro riffs ever. ****ing incredible album, the female vocals sound absolutely livid. That album is perfect.

Neo sludge/heavy stoner =/= sludge.

Baroness, Mastodon, Goatsnake, Bongzilla, Electric Wizard, Kylesa, etc. are NOT sludge.

Anybody who isn't sure what sludge is needs to introduce themselves to ther NOLA scene, and by that I don't mean Down.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

God, it's been ages since I've last listened to tr00 sludge, that stuff was much too harsh for me back then. Must remember to re-download EHG, Crowbar and all these other bands.
If I took this cigarette and put it out on you...

...would you love me?

Especially Corrupted, their Japanese. And that just makes for an instant win!

Listened to Grief all day at work,Come To Grief has some of the best riffs I've ever heard!
